CAROLINE DUMUR
Caroline Dumur discovered perfumery through books before formalizing her passion at ISIPCA and joining IFF in 2009. Her fascination had already been strengthened by childhood exposure to fragrance and by a formative journey to Egypt, where unfamiliar scents widened her olfactory world. At IFF she underwent intensive training in raw materials, accords, and classical construction, with Anne Flipo becoming an important mentor alongside Dennis Maroney and Jane Josephine. Now a senior perfumer in Paris, Dumur has developed a practice that combines technical assurance with instinct, emotional sensitivity, and a persistent desire to explore the expressive possibilities of materials.
Her creative language is built on contrast: subtlety against intensity, elegance against strangeness, and natural familiarity against unexpected abstraction. She is particularly drawn to rose, jasmine, orris, and even the comforting aroma of bread, while remaining open to unconventional ingredients and natural-perfumery constraints. Her portfolio includes Chloé Nomade Eau de Parfum Naturelle, Paco Rabanne Pure XS for Men, Lolita Lempicka So Sweet, L’Artisan Parfumeur Il Était un Bois, Penhaligon’s Fortuitous Finley, and D’Orsay Une Rose au Paradis. Across these works, Dumur’s signature lies in emotional clarity, textural contrast, and a fearless curiosity about how familiar materials can be made newly expressive.
